Painting has always been an integral part of my being and I’ve had the good fortune to have traveled and lived in places which motivated me to paint.
My early works depict mostly Native American scenes which were inspired by my frequent visits to New Mexico. One can’t help but be moved by the rich and multifaceted culture of the Native Americans and their colorful lifestyle.
Lately however, I am drawn to paint the everyday life by putting emphasis to the subtle beauty of the ordinary; my objective is to project my subjects with such vivacity and bring them to life.
I paint with careful attention to the complexities of everything our eyes could see: the human body, the fabric against it, how light reflects different shades of skin tone and finally the immediate surroundings that we so often neglect to see. It is my aspiration to fuel the viewers’ imagination and draw them to the painting and be part of it.
