Liz Ehrlichman
Liz Ehrlichman received her MFA in Painting from Brooklyn College in 1983. She has always sought to create, in her paintings, a quiet space that one can “dream into.” The contemplative works of the Huntington Beaches series are begun en plein aire, and concluded in the studio. Her introspective figure studies continue this feeling, introducing words from Ehrlichman’s own poems as graphic motifs. The painterly prints in the artist’s most recent solo exhibition, Studies for Ulalume, are a response to Edgar Allen Poe’s dream-like poem. They were exhibited at the Edgar Allen Poe Museum, in Richmond, Virginia for the poet’s 2011 birthday celebration. Currently, Ms. Ehrlichman is using monotype and collage techniques to create a semi-abstract treatment of the challenged marches and wetlands of the Huntington, New York area.
